Digital radio licence issued

HAKOM has carried out a public tender for the provision of the digital radio transmitter network management service in DAB + standard, and the license for use of RF spectrum for DAB + radio was granted to OIV.

ZAGREB, 13 October 2021 - The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) has carried out a public tender procedure for the issuing of an individual licence for the use of radio spectrum to provide the service of managing the electronic communications network of digital radio for  multiplex MUX 1 in the territory of the Republic of Croatia. In the public tender procedure for the provision of the network management service of digital radio transmitters in DAB + standard, the most favourable offer was the supply of the company Odašiljači i veze d.o.o. and, in accordance with the decision (link), an individual licence for the use of radio spectrum was issued.

The licence was issued for the period from 16 November 2021 to 31 December 2036.

We remind that the testing network of digital radio in DAB + standard, which currently has coverage of more than three million inhabitants, has been operating in the Republic of Croatia since 2017. This platform enables the availability of multimedia content and services on automotive and fixed digital radio receivers. DAB + listeners, free of internet expenses and completely free of charge, receive the reception of a radio signal without interference, the possibility of greater and simpler selection of clean sound programs and additional textual and graphic services accompanying audio content. On the other hand, new publishers are given room to reach the audience, while the existing ones get the opportunity to produce new content and increase ratings.
