The 23rd Plenary Meeting of the European Regulators Group for Postal Services

The ERGP Work Programme for 2023 was adopted at the meeting with a special emphasis on mid-term strategy (MTS) topics for the period 2023-2025.

ZAGREB, November 28, 2022 –The 23rd Plenary Meeting of the European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP) was held in Barcelona on Friday, 25 November 2022. At this year’s second plenary meeting, the 2023 Work Programme was adopted, with a special emphasis on three main topics from the mid-term strategy (MTF) for the period 2023-2025: reviewing the postal sector and its regulatory framework in the light of environmental sustainability and digitalisation, promoting a competitive single EU market in the context of an increase off e-commerce and end-user empowerment and ensuring a universal and user-centric service.

The meeting adopted the documents of the ERGP working groups and unanimously elected the chairman of the ERGP in 2024, Mr Dan Sjölblom, President of the Swedish Post and Telecom Authority (PSS). Ahead of the Plenary Meeting, a workshop on the future of the universal service was also held in the context of a sharp decline in the volume of items of correspondence sent in the postal sector and a strong increase in parcel traffic in the light of the growing e-commerce and new consumer habits caused by the pandemic.
