The 24th Plenary meeting of the European Regulators Group for Postal Services
Zagreb, 26 June 2023 — On Friday, 23 June 2023, in Larnaca, Cyprus, The European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP) held its 24th. Plenary meeting. The Plenary discussed and approved the ERGP’s Draft Work Programme (WP) for 2024, which was prepared by considering the three strategic pillars of the ERGP Medium Term Strategy (MTS) 2023-2025 The ERGP draft Work Programme 2024 will be submitted for public consultation from 6 July 2023 until 6 October 2023.
Prior to the plenary meeting, a workshop was held on the topic “Megatrends and the future, postal regulatory framework” in the context of significant changes within the postal sector in the EU in the past period, which are reflected in a sharp decline in the volume of sent items of correspondence and at the same time a strong increase in parcel traffic driven by growing e-commerce and changes in consumer behaviour, environmental sustainability of the postal sector and the ubiquitous digitalisation all with the aim of reviewing the future of the postal sector and its regulatory framework in the next 10 years.
At the meeting which was attended by the Marko Jukić member of the Council at HAKOM and Iva Dvornik, Head of the Postal Services Sector at HAKOM, two documents were adopted; Report on the future need of USO and Report on the application and implementing Regulation on cross-border parcel delivery services.
