Public consultation launched on the proposal on the decision and tender documentation for DAB + tender

The public consultation runs from 24 June to 9 July 2021.
 
ZAGREB, 24 June 2021 - At its session held on 24 June 202 the Council of the Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) adopted a proposal on the decision on announcing tenders and tender documentation for issuing an individual licence for the use of radio spectrum for providing the service of managing the electronic communications network of digital radio (DAB +) on the territory of the Republic of Croatia. Accordingly, a public consultation was launched between 24 June and 9 July 2021 and it is available on the following link.

Since there is an interest in launching the commercial operation of digital radio in the Republic of Croatia, HAKOM has initiated activities related to the preparation of the procedure for issuing appropriate licenses. It is the assignment of RF spectrum for providing the service of managing electronic communications network of digital radio in the territory of the Republic of Croatia, in the frequency range 174-240 MHz.

The launch of the commercial operation of digital radio will contribute to the radio market development and enable listeners to make more radio programmes available, which is currently technically impossible to achieve in a very congested frequency area predicted for analogue FM radio (87,5-108 MHz). It is important to emphasize that the launch of digital radio does not mean the termination of analogue FM radio since their operation is envisaged in different frequency areas.
