The second ERGP Meeting held in Zadar

At the meeting, held on the eve of the 23rd regular plenary meeting, the 2023-2025 medium-term strategy was discussed

ZAGREB, October 31, 2022 - The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) organized the second meeting of the European Regulators Group for Postal Services (ERGP)  in Zadar. At the meeting, the reports of ERGP working groups were discussed with the aim of drafting the documents supporting the European Commission in decisions related to the development of new guidelines in the Regulation of the common European postal market. Particular emphasis was placed on three major topics in the medium-term strategy (MTS) for the period 2023-2025, namely reviewing the postal sector and its regulatory framework in the light of environmental sustainability and digitalisation, promoting a competitive single EU market in the context of an increase in e-commerce and strengthening end-users and ensuring universal customer-oriented services.  The main challenges of the European postal system in the medium term are related to the harmonization of the mail segment and parcel segment markets, the promotion of market competition and the protection of users’ rights.

The meeting was also an opportunity to exchange experiences between representatives of the European Commission and the regulatory authorities for postal services of the ERGP Member States with a focus on changes in the postal services markets, potential changes to the existing regulatory framework and challenges of further harmonisation in the field of postal services in the coming period.
