HAKOM initiates procedures for assigning the numbers 116 006 and 116 111

A public call for 116 006 for the victims of crime service and a public call for 116 111 hotline for missing children has been published.

ZAGREB, 8 July 2021 The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) published two public calls for the allocation of numbers a public call for the allocation of number 116 006 aimed at the victim of crime service and a public call for the allocation of number 116 111 for the hotline for missing children. It refers to the  allocation of numbers that form part of the numbering range 116 in services of social importance, i.e. for services with a special social sensitivity (Harmonised European short number), the dialling  free of charge. This numbering range is part of the European Regulation which aims to achieve the purpose of “same number - same service” throughout the European Union, i.e. to make services of social importance available through identical, easily identifiable telephone numbers in all EU countries. In this respect, five 116 XXX format numbers have been reserved for individual services of social importance. More information on regulations and 116 numbers can be found on the following link.

Number 116 006 for the service of the calling centre for victims of crime enables victims of crime to receive emotional support in such circumstances, to be acquainted with their rights and ways of exercising their rights and to refer them to relevant organisations. Also, information is provided on local police and court proceedings, opportunities for compensation and insurance issues. In addition, this service also provides support in finding other ways to help victims of crime.

Number 116 111 for the children's call centre service helps children in need of care and protection and connecting them with competent services and resources. Children are given the opportunity to express their fears, talk about problems that directly concern them and the possibility of contacting someone in emergency situations.

With regard to the expiry of the period for which number 116 006 was assigned, as well as number 116 111, HAKOM initiated a procedure for reassigning these numbers, and documentation and any additional information can be found on the following link.
