In the third quarter of the year, a growth was recorded in rail freight and rail passenger transport

Figures recorded 8.9 percent rise in transported goods and 52.7 percent in transported passengers compared to the same period of the previous year.

ZAGREB, 20 December 2022 – In the market for railway services in the Republic of Croatia, 8.9 percent more goods were transported by rail in the third quarter of 2022, with 12 percent more tonne kilometres achieved, compared to the same period of the previous year. HŽ Cargo d.o.o. transported 0.1 percent less goods and achieved 8.6 percent more tonne kilometres, while new freight railway companies transported 15.7 percent more goods and achieved 16.2 percent more tonne kilometres. At the end of the third quarter, new undertakings had a share of 60.9% in the total goods transported and 46.4% in tonne-kilometres achieved. The revenues of freight railway undertakings from the transport of goods increased by 31.5 percent. Out of a total of 17 freight undertakings, 12 were active, while five new railway undertakings were not commercially active.

HŽ Putnički Prijevoz d.o.o. increased the number of passengers transported by 52.7 percent and the number of passenger kilometres by 40.6 percent compared to the same period last year. Revenues of HŽ Putnički prijevoz d.o.o. from passenger transport increased by 13.9 percent, and revenues from the state budget, based on public service contracts, increased by 28.5 percent.
