HAKOM launches webinars for parents and guardians to enhance children’s online safety

The video webinars cover topics such as online safety, the sharing of personal information, digital footprints, artificial intelligence, and the latest digital regulations.

ZAGREB, 20 November 2025 - To mark World Children’s Day, observed on 20 November each year, HAKOM has released a series of video webinars aimed at parents and guardians of children who use electronic communication services independently. The initiative seeks to raise awareness and understanding of online safety. The flagship webinar, Keys to a Safe Internet, explores five key themes: online safety, personal data protection, digital footprints, artificial intelligence, and the latest rules governing the digital environment.

Children are spending increasing amounts of time online without adult supervision, often using applications and features unfamiliar to their parents. While the digital world offers vast opportunities, it also requires informed and active involvement from adults. It is therefore crucial to emphasise both children’s rights and the responsibility of adults to guide them, ensuring they can navigate the digital space safely and confidently.

Developed in collaboration with experts from various disciplines, the webinars provide a valuable resource for parents seeking to understand the benefits and challenges of the digital environment. They are also useful for older users who may find it difficult to navigate digital technologies. The expertise of contributors - including university professors Prof. Dr Igor Kanižaj and Prof. Dr Marin Vuković, alongside HAKOM specialists Domagoj Maričić and Gordana Kulišić - has been transformed into accessible educational content. These webinars will support both parents and educators and represent a significant contribution to wider educational initiatives. They are available on HAKOM’s YouTube channel at the following link.
