Think Before You Click”: Protect Yourself from Digital Fraud

ZAGREB, 21 January 2026 - As digital threats become increasingly sophisticated, protecting users and ensuring online safety are key priorities. To help users recognise risks, a podcast on fraud prevention has been published as part of an initiative by BEREC. The podcast features Marina Ljubić Karanović, Senior Legal Expert at HAKOM and Co-Chair of BEREC’s End-User Working Group.

Fraud in electronic communications - including fraudulent text messages, malicious links and deceptive phone calls - poses a serious risk to citizens’ privacy and security. Attackers often use psychological manipulation, creating a sense of urgency to encourage users to act without thinking.

In the podcast, you can find out:
  • how to recognise the most common types of digital fraud
  • how to protect your personal data;
  • what to do if you become a victim of fraud.
As an independent regulator, HAKOM works with its counterparts in BEREC to raise awareness of network security. Stay informed, think critically and take steps to protect yourself.

The podcast is available at the following link.
