First Decision Granting Trusted Flagger Status Adopted in Croatia
ZAGREB, 23 July 2026 - HAKOM, acting as the Digital Services Coordinator of the Republic of Croatia, has adopted a decision granting Trusted Flagger status to the Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (CMEC), following the Centre's application.
The status has been granted to CMEC in relation to areas of illegal content, including online violence, online violence against women, illegal incitement to violence and hatred, content relating to the protection of minors, fraud, human trafficking, and other forms of violence.
This is the first decision granting Trusted Flagger status in the Republic of Croatia.
In accordance with Article 22 of the Digital Services Act, Trusted Flagger status is granted to entities that possess particular expertise and competence in detecting, identifying and reporting illegal content, are independent of providers of online platforms, and carry out their reporting activities in a diligent, accurate and objective manner. Providers of online platforms are required to give priority to notices submitted by Trusted Flaggers.
The granted status is valid throughout the European Union and enables the submission of notices to providers of online platforms offering services within the European Union that are subject to the Digital Services Act
