At the beginning of the year, revenue growth was recorded despite the lower number of postal services

The postal services market recorded revenue growth in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year, although the total number of postal services recorded a decrease Revenues have grown primarily due to a higher number of value-added services, while the number of item of correspondence decreased.

Zagreb, 16 June 2023 In the first quarter of 2023, the postal services market in the Republic of Croatia generated a total of EUR 70.83 million in revenues, which is 5.6 million more compared to the same period of the previous year, with an increase of 8.5 %. Increased revenues were mostly driven by the growth of services with some added value (express items). There were12.9 % more services performed compared to the first quarter of 2022 which resulted in the increasing use of services related to e-commerce, which was also shown by HAKOM’s research on satisfaction of postal services users in 2022. At the same time, the total number of postal services recorded 0.5 % decline in comparison with the first quarter of the previous year and 1.1 % from the previous quarter, and despite the decrease, it is evident that this trend has slowed down. The reason for that  is a continued growth in the number of parcels regardless of the decrease in the number of item of correspondence, as a 5.5 % increase in parcels was recorded, which is an increase compared to the first quarter of 2022.

After market disruption in the years before, in the last several quarters the trend in international postal traffic has normalised. In the first quarter of 2023, 18.5 % more services were than in the same period of the previous year.

At the end of the first quarter of this year, postal services included the amount of 22 providers, two less, compared to the end of 2023. HP-Hrvatska pošta d.d. is the largest provider with a share of 88 % in terms of number of services and 59.7 % in terms of total market revenues.
