European Commission launches public consultation on the future of the EU postal sector

Deadline for participation: 5 March 2026

ZAGREB, 16 December 2025 - The European Commission has launched a public consultation with the aim of gathering views and proposals to support the development of a new legislative framework for the European Union’s postal sector. The consultation covers key issues related to the functioning of the postal services market, including the availability and affordability of letter and parcel delivery services, conditions for market competition, consumer protection, and the sector’s adaptation to changes driven by the growth of e-commerce and digitalisation.

The call for participation is open to a wide range of stakeholders, including citizens, businesses, postal and delivery service providers, trade unions and public authorities.
The comments and proposals received will serve as the basis for the preparation of an Impact Assessment within the future EU Delivery Act, which the European Commission announced as part of the Single Market Strategy for 2025.

The deadline for participation in the public consultation is 5 March 2026. The consultation can be accessed via the relevant link.

HAKOM invites all interested stakeholders to take part in the consultation and contribute to shaping a sustainable, efficient and user-oriented postal sector in the European Union.
