European Commission’s regular visit to HAKOM

NEWS

Following the accession of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union, HAKOM has joined other European national regulators which the European Commission visits on a regular basis for the purpose of preparing the report on the electronic communications sector.

ZAGREB, 4 February 2014 – The representatives of the European Commission visited HAKOM today to collect information from Croatia for the purpose of preparing the annual report on the implementation of the regulatory framework for the electronic communications sector in the European Union. The topics of the meeting included almost the entire scope of the regulatory activity: the development of the broadband market and mobile and fixed communication networks, regulation and HAKOM’s decisions, national broadband development plans, radiofrequency spectrum management, consumer protection, network neutrality, universal service, access to network and interconnection, electronic communications infrastructure, as well as the regulator itself, which according to European directives must be an efficiently organised independent regulatory authority.

European directives in the area of electronic communications are completely embedded in the 2011 Electronic Communications Act, and Croatia now, together with the other Member States, proves that the regulatory framework is consistently implemented in practice.
