HAKOM Conference “Electronic Communications Market Day” to be Held in October

The conference will present the latest developments and initiatives in the dynamic electronic communications market

ZAGREB, 2 September 2025 - On Tuesday, 14 October 2025, the 12th HAKOM conference, “Electronic Communications Market Day”, will take place in Zagreb. This year’s conference will focus on four thematic areas. Given that the adoption process of the new EU regulatory framework (Digital Network Act) is underway, aimed at improving access to secure, fast, and reliable connectivity for the transition to cloud-based and AI-driven infrastructure, leaders of Croatian operators will discuss in a panel how the new regulatory framework could impact the development of the Croatian market.

The conference will also cover findings from the 2025 Digital Decade Status Report, with a focus on Croatia, progress in the deployment of fibre-optic networks and 5G technology compared with the EU average and selected Member States. Particular attention will be paid to the challenges facing rural areas and how Croatia can accelerate its journey towards a gigabit future.

A dedicated panel discussion will address the phase-out of the copper network, which will bring both opportunities and challenges for all market participants. The shutdown will enable a faster migration to newly built Very High Capacity Networks (VHCN) and open the way for the development of more advanced services. At the same time, it will require addressing technical, regulatory, and market issues, as well as ensuring the protection of end users and market competition during the migration process.

The final topic will focus on the implementation of the Cybersecurity Act, which sets out measures to achieve a high level of cybersecurity, oversight provisions, and the role of HAKOM as one of the authorities responsible for enforcing the Act.

The conference will be streamed live on HAKOM’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
