Increase in the Number of Rail Passengers and the Volume of Rail Freight in the Fourth Quarter of 2025
Passenger Transport
HŽ Putnički prijevoz carried a total of 7,597,543 passengers, which represents an increase of 0.8 per cent compared with the fourth quarter of 2024. At the same time, the number of passenger-kilometres recorded was 1.5 per cent lower than in the same period of the previous year.
Freight Transport
In the freight segment, a total of 3,165,395 tonnes of freight were transported, representing an increase of 3.4 per cent compared with the fourth quarter of 2024. A total of 777,203,139 tonne-kilometres were recorded, which is 2.5 per cent fewer than in the same period of the previous year.
The revenue from freight transport increased by 1.0 per cent compared with the same period in 2024.
HŽ Cargo transported 1.1 per cent less freight and recorded 6.6 per cent fewer tonne-kilometres than in the fourth quarter of 2024. The other rail freight undertakings recorded an increase of 7.0 per cent in the volume of freight transported and an increase of 1.6 per cent in the number of tonne-kilometres.
At the end of the fourth quarter of 2025, HŽ Cargo held a 42.8 per cent share of the total volume of freight transported and a 48.7 per cent share of the total number of tonne-kilometres recorded.
Of the total of 20 registered rail freight undertakings, 14 were operational, while six undertakings did not perform any freight transport operations during the period under review.
