Invitation to Participate in the European Commission's Public Consultations on the EU's Multiannual Financial Framework for the Post-2027 Period
ZAGREB, March 20, 2025 - The European Commission has recently published a Communication titled "Towards the Next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF)," which outlines the key political and budgetary challenges that will shape the future budget of the European Union
Key highlights of the document include:
- Optimizing the impact of financing and a stronger focus on the EU's core priorities;
- The possibility of establishing a European Competitiveness Fund to support strategic sectors and key technologies;
- Transitioning to a policy-based budget rather than one based on programmes;
- Simplification and flexibility through a reduction in the number of programmes and the introduction of national plans that link reforms with investments, enabling quicker responses to crises
Given the importance of securing funding for various sectors, we especially highlight the consultations relevant to digital infrastructure, including
- Financing for competitiveness in the EU;
- The implementation of EU funding in collaboration with member states and regions
- EU funding for civil protection, preparedness, and crisis response.
