Record number of parcels in the postal market

In the last quarter of 2022, 8.9 million parcel services were delivered, the highest number of such services so far in one quarter.
 
Zagreb, 10 March 2023 -In the postal services market in the Republic of Croatia and in the fourth quarter of the previous year, the trend of growth of parcel services continued. Overall, 8.9 million services were achieved, up 5.8 percent from the previous quarter and 1.6 percent compared to the same period last year. A larger number of parcels also resulted in an increase in their share in the total market in which packages account for more than 13 percent, which is the largest share so far. At the same time, the total number of postal services decreased by 1.9 % compared to the same period last year, while total services fell by 0.5 per cent on an annual level.

In the last quarter, growth in international services has been halted for several quarters in a row. Overall, 4.5 million services were achieved, which is about 6 percent lower than in the previous quarter and 4.5 percent compared to the same period the previous year.

Revenues from postal services have been continuously growing for several quarters, so in the fourth quarter, HRK 547 million was realised, which is 0.4 percent more than in the same period of the previous year and by 4 percent compared to the previous quarter. The increase in revenue was mainly driven by the growth of parcel and value-added services (express shipments) that increased by 7.5 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Revenues grew on an annual basis, amounting to around HRK 2.09 billion in 2022, an increase of 5.4 % compared to 2021.

Postal services in the Republic of Croatia were provided by 24 providers at the end of 2022. The largest provider is HP-Hrvatska pošta d.d., which in 2022 had a share of 87.4 percent in the number of realised services and 58.2 percent of total revenues.
