Positive Trends in the Postal Services Market

In the second quarter of 2021, the number of postal and parcel services recorded a growth compared to the same period of the previous year, and the revenue growth was recorded as well.
 
ZAGREB, September 17, 2021 – The postal services market in the Republic of Croatia has recorded a growth in almost all segments. In the second quarter of 2021, the total number of postal services increased by 3.3% compared to the same period of the previous year. A larger number of services were affected by 4.1 % growth in mail items and 2.6 % in parcels. The largest market share of 80.5 % was in mail items followed by the parcels s with a share of slightly over 11 %, and the remaining part referred to the printed matter (imprime).
 
International traffic is still under the influence of the global pandemic, and in the second quarter it held a 7.8 %t share in the overall market, and the number of services grew by 10.6 percent year-on-year in that period.
 
A larger number of services also affected the growth of total revenues, which are 8.1 % higher than in the same period of 2020. Out of the total revenue, the largest share, about 53 %, was generated from the provision of other postal services, about 41 % from the provision of the universal service, and the remaining part from the provision of alternative postal services.
 
At the end of the second quarter, the postal services in the Republic of Croatia were provided by 23 providers, out of which HP-Croatian Post Ltd. is the largest with 89.1% share in the services performed, which is 5% more than in the previous quarter due to the takeover of the distribution of printed matters from the (daily press from Tisak plus d.o.o. as of April 2021)
