PRESS RELEASE

HAKOM has launched public consultations on the European Commission’s document on shaping the future of Internet governance. The aim of the public consultation, with all stakeholders and the public is to form the point of view of the Republic of Croatia on this important issue.

ZAGREB, 10 March 2014 – HAKOM has launched public consultations on the future of Internet governance and on the European Commission’s document on the Internet policy and Internet governance, i.e. the role of Europe in shaping the future of Internet governance. An open and free Internet, in which all rights and freedoms that people have offline also apply online, facilitates social and democratic progress worldwide. For this reason, sustainable governance of the Internet involving all stakeholders is increasingly in the focus and essential to preserve these benefits.

HAKOM therefore calls all stakeholders to present their point of view on the issues in the document at public consultations on “Internet Policy and Governance – Europe’s role in shaping the future of Internet Governance” and to contribute to a common vision of the Internet policy and governance, i.e. of the role of Europe in shaping the future of its governance. The aim is to review the European Commission’s document which proposes a basis for a common European vision for Internet governance in an open discussion with all stakeholders, and eventually to form the point of view of the Republic of Croatia about this important issue and contribute to all relevant discussions, both within the EU and globally.

Public consultations are held from 10 to 28 March, and are available at link
