The 14th Weekend Media Festival

HAKOM participated in the panel discussion on “What frequency are you on”.

ZAGREB, 27 September 2021 – In Rovinj, from September 23-26. the 14th Weekend Media Festival, was held  which is one of the most substantial regional conferences in the media industry, bringing together leading domestic and world experts in media and communications .By  means of numerous discussions and lectures, this year's conference hosted interesting experts bringing a number of attractive topics closer to the audience. Topics such as those in the digital media and marketing industry were opened at numerous panel discussions, as well as the tendencies of digital  media market industries  to combine information content, especially television, with entertainment, as well as green business and the influencer phenomenon.

RF Spectrum Monitoring Department Manager participated in the panel discussion on “What frequency are you on” along with Marko Serdarević, Sales Division Director at OiV, Hrvoje Turić .Chief Executive Officer at Radio Dalmacija d.o.o. The discussion gave an overview of the benefits as well as of the challenges imposed by the commercial roll-out of digital radio for all market stakeholders and what is important for the success of this digital platform. Since it is not a “forced” transition from FM radio to DAB +, as it was the case between analogue TV and digital TV, DAB + emerges as a complementary new service for existing and future publishers, enabling the employment of many new radio programmes and additional services such as advanced programme guide, advanced traffic and weather information, slideshow, electronic magazine (journaline). The challenges identified were coverage of DAB + signal and possible costs for publishers wishing to broadcast simultaneously to FM and DAB + technology, the provision of new software and additional services which, along with the receiving base, make availability of receiver devices an important element in attracting the new users.
