Public Call for Applications for the Allocation of Number 116 000

HAKOM has issued a public call for the allocation of number 116 000 for the hotline service for missing children.

ZAGREB, 27 May 2025 - The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) has announced a public call for applications for the allocation of the number 116 000, designated for the hotline service for missing children. This number is used to receive reports of missing children, which are then forwarded to the police. Additionally, support and assistance are provided to those responsible for the missing child, and help is offered during the investigation process. The service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The number being allocated falls within the 116 numbering range, which is reserved for services of social value - services considered to be of particular social sensitivity (so-called Harmonised European Short Numbers). This numbering range is part of the  EU regulation aimed at achieving the principle of “The same number - same service” across the European Union. In other words, socially significant services should be accessible via the same, easily recognisable telephone numbers in all EU Member States. Within this framework, six numbers in the 116 XXX format are reserved for various socially valuable services.

More information about 116 numbers can be found at the following link.
