HAKOM issues a public call for applications for the allocation of number 116 016 for the Helpline for Victims of Violence Against Women

ZAGREB, 27 August 2026 - The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM) has issued a public call for applications for the allocation of number 116 016, designated for the Helpline for Victims of Violence Against Women.

The number 116 016 provides victims of violence against women with access to assistance and support, information about their rights and how to exercise them, and referrals to relevant organisations.

Number 116 016 is part of the 116 numbering range designated for services of social significance, i.e. services requiring particular social sensitivity. These harmonised European short numbers are designated to ensure that the same services are accessible through easily recognisable telephone numbers across EU Member States, in accordance with the principle of “one number - one service”.

Five short numbers within the 116 XXX numbering range are reserved for specific services of social significance.

Further information on numbers in the 116 range is available on the European Commission's website.

As the period for which number 116 016 was previously allocated is coming to an end, HAKOM has initiated the procedure for its reallocation.
