ZAGREB, February 24, 2017 - This year's first plenary session of Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications was held on February 23 and 24 in Paris. The main topics of the session were workshops and discussions on review of the regulatory framework for electronic communications as well as discussions on the guidelines drafted by BEREC regarding the implementation of Roaming Regulation which should enter into force on June 15.  Referring to the BEREC Opinion on the European Commission's proposals for a review of the electronic communications framework which was adopted in December last year at the last plenary session, the main topic of this plenary session was a detailed analysis carried out by BEREC per each area covered by the review of the regulatory framework.

Referring to the above mentioned topic, the most important issue of the workshop was the review of the regulatory framework comprising three very important areas - end users, Spectrum and Institutional changes.

Another important issue was related to the discussion on the guidelines which will be drafted by BEREC regarding the implementation of Roaming Regulation which should enter into force on June 15. The guidelines are very important to the operators in order to start with the implementation and thus fulfil the obligation under the Regulation.

BEREC conference was held on the occasion of 20 years of ARCEP and IRG (Independent Regulators Group) the day before the plenary Session.  ARCEP is the French regulatory authority chaired by BEREC. At the conference, the representatives of regulatory authorities, the academic community and industry had an interactive discussion that followed after the presentation and  roundtables. The discussion was on the future of  electronic communications as well as the  important role of the regulator in these dynamic processes ahead of  us.
The Croatian Regulatory Authority for Network Industries (HAKOM), was represented by Dražen Lučić, President of the Council, Domagoj Jurjević, Deputy President of the Council and Marko Čavlović, Assistant Director.
